INTRODUCTION:

Firstly let me say a big thanks to Kevin Clark for donating so much information for this tutorial.

Welcome to the GPL Movie Making Tutorials. Hopefully in these pages you'll be able to learn enough to be able to make a GPL movie from start to finish. There was never too much information around to tell the early movie makers how to do it, so it was through word of mouth and hit and miss experimenting that we battled our way though producing movies. Hopefully these pages will save you the hassle of that. Firstly we'll point out some guidelines about making movies that we've learnt along the way.

- Making a movie is a very personal thing, so make the sort of movie you'd like to see, not what you think someone else would like to see. If you like it then the chances are high that others will enjoy it.

- Don't rush through making it just so that you can show it to others. If you do rush it then you will no doubt end up seeing little mistakes and regretting the fact that you were too impatient. Remember that you are putting you name to it and have to live with it for the rest of your life. So take your time and make sure you are totally happy with it.

- The single most important aspect of making a movie is that it has to entertain. Try not to lose sight of that as you make your movie. It doesn't have to be the most technically advanced movie with all the latest effects to be enjoyable. The content is what makes a good movie, after all you don't build a house and start with the roof.

Tips from Kevin Clark: "One thing to mention before you start. You need LOTS of HD space. 10 seconds of uncompressed footage at 800x600 is around 300 Mb. Just a Day had 12 GB of uncompressed footage for a 4 minute movie."
